Uncharted PC port system requirements

What each port asks for, which hardware the authors tested, and why the processor matters more than the graphics card.

  • Vulkan 1.3
  • 6 GB VRAM
  • AVX, no AVX2
  • 16 GB RAM rec.

Requirements as each author states them, plus the hardware they actually tested. Both ports are CPU-heavy: the PS4’s GPU commands are processed on one CPU core (3,000–5,600 draws per frame in the heaviest scenes), so an older CPU limits the frame rate before most graphics cards do.

Graphics card and video memory

  • 6 GB or more is what both authors recommend. On 4 GB cards (GTX 1650, RX 570) SuperMedo’s port runs out of video memory after a while.
  • 2–4 GB: BilalReloaded’s experimental Save video memory (Performance tab) cut Uncharted 2 at 720p from 2.1 to 1.5 GB.
  • GeForce GTX 10-series: crashed at start until BilalReloaded 0.8.1 and SuperMedo 0.3.12.
  • Vulkan 1.2 only (Kepler and older): not supported.
  • Upscaling: FSR 3.1, FSR 4, DLSS and XeSS options in both ports (plus FSR 1 in BilalReloaded’s). It saves GPU time only; on CPU-limited PCs and the Steam Deck it changes little.

Processor

The games use the instructions of the PS4’s processor: AVX, F16C, BMI1, MOVBE and LZCNT. AVX2 is not needed. Six job threads per game expect cores of their own, which is why 4–6 core CPUs should keep Idle game threads: Sleep (a 4-core test went from 19–27 to 60 FPS) and turn on Multithreaded rendering. On fast desktop CPUs that option makes no difference.

Memory and disk

BilalReloaded’s 0.6.0 halved RAM use (Uncharted 2: 15.5 → 7.0 GB in its test). SuperMedo 0.3.9 takes game memory from Windows as the game uses it, which fixed “Error 1450” on 16 GB PCs with a small page file. Keep the page file on. The download is about 120 MB; the shader cache grows as you play. Keep the port and the game on an internal drive.

Steam Deck

Runs through Proton (see Steam Deck & Linux). The Deck is CPU-limited for these ports: use the Low preset at 1280x800 and a 30–40 FPS limit.

Controllers

Both ports read DualSense, DualShock 4 and Xbox controllers through SDL3, alongside keyboard and mouse. Controllers that fit:

Frequently asked questions

What are the Uncharted PC port system requirements?

Windows 10 or 11 64-bit; a GPU with Vulkan 1.3 and a current driver (6 GB of video memory recommended); about 6–8 GB of free memory for the game and 16 GB in the PC recommended; a 4-core CPU with AVX (Intel 2nd/3rd-gen Core or newer depending on the port, any Ryzen, AMD FX).

Can I play the Uncharted PC port with 8 GB of RAM?

Possibly, with nothing else open and the page file on: SuperMedo asks for about 8 GB of free memory counting the page file, and BilalReloaded about 6 GB free for the game. Uncharted 2 used 7.0 GB of RAM in BilalReloaded’s 0.6.0 test (down from 15.5 GB). 16 GB is the recommendation.

Does it run on a GTX 1650 or RX 570 with 4 GB?

It starts, but 4 GB cards run out of video memory and crash after a while in SuperMedo’s port; keep anti-aliasing and frame generation off. BilalReloaded offers Save video memory for 2–4 GB cards (experimental, about 30% less VRAM).

Does the Uncharted PC port work on integrated graphics?

Yes, slowly. BilalReloaded’s weakest tested GPU, the 2-compute-unit Radeon iGPU of a Ryzen 7000/9000 desktop CPU, reached 27–39 FPS in Uncharted 3, 27 FPS in Uncharted 2 and 24 FPS in Drake’s Fortune at 720p with the Low preset or FSR 1 Ultra Performance. Intel UHD 620 laptops are not reported as playable (#368).

Can I play it on a Mac?

No. Neither port has a macOS build, and Windows on ARM (Snapdragon) crashes in Uncharted 1 at the first level (SuperMedo #799).
