Uncharted PC port on Steam Deck & Linux

Both ports are Windows programs that run through Proton. Setup steps for the Deck, settings for its CPU, and the state of a native Linux build.

  • Native Linux: PR #377

Short version: both ports are Windows programs. On Steam Deck and desktop Linux you run the Windows ZIP through Proton. BilalReloaded’s port has had Steam Deck fixes since 0.3.1; a native Linux AppImage exists only as an unmerged pull request (#377).

Set it up on Steam Deck

  1. Switch to Desktop Mode. Download the ZIP of one port from GitHub (see downloads) and check it: sha256sum Uncharted-windows.zip in Konsole.
  2. Extract it to a folder on the internal SSD. BilalReloaded’s launcher warns about SD cards, USB drives and exFAT; keep the game folder on the internal drive too.
  3. In Steam: Games → Add a Non-Steam Game, browse to Uncharted Launcher.exe or Uncharted.exe, then in the shortcut’s Properties → Compatibility force a Proton version (Proton Experimental to start).
  4. Start it from Steam, select your game folder and choose the settings below. The first start of each game compiles shaders and is slow, more so on the Deck.
  5. Return to Gaming Mode and start the shortcut from your library. BilalReloaded keeps one set of launcher options for every Steam shortcut under Proton, so a per-game shortcut uses the same settings.

On SuperMedo’s port, set a 1280x800 resolution and a 30–60 FPS limit on the Display page, leave Frame generation off at first, and let the Fixes page stay on Automatic.

Desktop Linux

  • Use Steam with a non-Steam shortcut and Proton, or Lutris / Bottles with a recent Proton or Wine build. Install the Vulkan driver for your GPU (Mesa RADV or NVIDIA).
  • AMD + RADV: expect stutters when new areas stream in (#382). They come from how page faults are handled under Proton, not from your hardware.
  • NVIDIA on Linux: pull request #377 was tested on an RTX 5070 Ti, but only for its native build.
  • Bug reports: say that you run Linux, which Proton version and which GPU driver, and attach boot.log (BilalReloaded) or user/last_run.log (SuperMedo).

Controllers on Steam Deck

Steam Input presents the Deck’s built-in controls to the game as an Xbox-style controller, and both ports show Xbox button prompts. Docked, any Xbox-layout or DualSense pad works the same way; see controllers.

For docked play on a TV, these controllers work with both ports through Steam:

Frequently asked questions

Does the Uncharted PC port work on Steam Deck?

It runs through Proton, not as a native SteamOS program. BilalReloaded’s port added Steam Deck support in 0.3.1 (contributed by kuraeow: 16:10 at 1280x800, movies keep their shape, one set of launcher options for every Steam shortcut under Proton), fixed cutscene freezes of up to 33 seconds on the Deck in 0.4.0 and full-screen wipes below 720p in 0.5.0. SuperMedo has fixed Linux path and extraction problems but publishes no Deck test.

Is there a native Linux version of the Uncharted PC port?

Not as a release. BilalReloaded pull request #377 (“Native Linux build and AppImage”, opened November 7, 2026) builds the port natively for Linux and was tested on Bazzite with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and an RTX 5070 Ti: Among Thieves plays at the right speed, Drake’s Deception reaches the menus, Drake’s Fortune was not tried. It is still open and unmerged, so there is no AppImage to download from the releases.

What frame rate can I expect on Steam Deck?

No author publishes Steam Deck frame rates. The closest data: BilalReloaded’s weakest tested GPU (a 2-compute-unit Ryzen desktop iGPU) reached 24–39 FPS at 720p, and the README notes that on CPU-limited systems such as the Steam Deck upscaling changes little. Plan for a 30 or 40 FPS limit rather than 60.

Why does it stutter so much on Linux with an AMD card?

BilalReloaded issue #382 (open) reports multi-second stutters when streaming new areas under Proton with RADV (RX 6800 XT, Mesa 26.2.6): RADV exposes only one queue in its graphics family, so the port’s batched fetch never runs and every write fault is handled page by page, which is far more expensive under Wine/Proton. An experimental patch is attached to the issue; it is not in a release yet.

Which Proton version should I use?

Neither port names one. The #382 reporter saw the same behaviour with Proton Experimental and GE-Proton 11. Start with Proton Experimental and change one thing at a time.
